What is different here

No move hints.
When you pick up a piece, the board does not light up the squares you may move it to. You work the move out yourself, exactly as you must over the board.
Illegal moves are allowed, and they cost you.
You can play an illegal move here. The move is taken back and your opponent gets extra time on their clock: 15 seconds in bullet, 1 minute in blitz and rapid, 2 minutes in classical. A second illegal move in the same game loses the game.
No premoves.
You cannot queue a move before your opponent has played. Every move is made on the position in front of you.
The clock does not stop.
If your internet drops, your time keeps running, just as it would if you walked away from the board. When a pawn reaches the last rank you choose the piece yourself; nothing is chosen for you.

The first number is the minutes you start with. The second is the seconds added to your clock after every move.

Ratings

You choose rated or casual for each game. A rated game changes your rating and a casual game does not, and a rated game needs a verified email address. New players start at 1500, and the rating shows a question mark until you have finished 10 games at that speed.

Every game is saved with all the moves and the time you spent on each one, so you can play it back afterwards.
