Grand Prix: free chess puzzle races every 30 minutes

A Grand Prix race is a timed chess puzzle race. A new race starts every 30 minutes, it is free to join, and everyone in a race solves the same puzzles at the same time.

How a race works

  • The levels take turns.

    Races take turns between three levels, Rookie, Contender and Champion, so a level that suits you comes round within an hour and a half.

  • Points for what you solve.

    You score points for every correct move you find, and asking for a hint costs points.

  • Points first, then time.

    How fast you solve never changes what a puzzle is worth. But if two people finish on the same points, the one who took less time is ahead. If their times match too, they share the place.

  • Watch the standings as the race runs.

    Everyone racing appears in the standings below, and the order changes as points are scored. Past races are kept on the leaderboard.
